Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Ice cube tray or silicone mold
  • Vinegar
  • Small bowls or cups
  • Droppers, pipettes, or spoons

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda with 1/2 cup of water to form a thick paste.
  2. Divide the mixture into several small bowls based on how many colors you want.
  3. Add different food coloring to each bowl and mix well.
  4. Spoon the colorful mixtures into the ice cube tray or silicone mold, filling each compartment about three-quarters full.
  5. Place the tray in the freezer for at least 2 hours or until completely solid.
  6. Once frozen, gently remove the cubes from the tray.
  7. Arrange your colorful ice cubes in a shallow dish.
  8. Pour vinegar into small bowls for dripping.
  9. Drip the vinegar onto your colorful ice cubes and watch the fizzing reaction!

Notes

Ensure to mix baking soda and water well for the right consistency. Use small amounts of vinegar to control the fizzing.
